Societas Magica is a community for scholars interested in the study of magic. The group has regular discussions concerning the history of magic, its practice, both its positive and negative aspects through history and serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas.
The organization was established in 1994 with the intention of exploring the history of magic in the middle ages, but since membership has diversified so much over the years, the content has as well. There is a newsletter published twice yearly and Societas Magica has other associated publications as well. Scholars wishing to gain membership may apply, and upon approval, are eligible for a discount on subscriptions and other purchases and are invited to attend all meetings and events hosted by the organization.
