The Mesoamerica Center is an interdisciplinary organization at the University of Texas (UT) that aims to facilitate knowledge, learning and understanding about the ancient indigenous cultures of Mesoamerica.
The Mesoamerica Center operates within the Department of Fine Arts and Art History of the College of Fine Arts at UT. Its focus is on the arts, language, and archeology of Mesoamerican civilization, which is that of the ancient indigenous peoples of what is now Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and El Salvador.
The center does this through education, research and exchange. It also oversees The Maya Meetings, a premier academic conference and symposium on Mesoamerican culture, and Casa Herrera, a research and teaching facility in the city of Antigua, Guatemala.
